Monitor any web site for changes

I found a pretty cool web site today that allows you to monitor any web site and have an email notify you when it changes.

http://www.changedetection.com

So what is this good for?? Lot's of things.

I was looking for something that would let me know when a list of known vulnerabilities for a piece of PHP code that we use is updated. This list is kept as an HTML file with no way to subscribe or add the page to my RSS feed reader. So now anytime there is a new vulnerability, I will get an email. Cool.

It also has a webmaster control panel that allows you to add a widget to your site that visitors can use to be notified whenever you update your page. I personally use RSS for this on my company web site but there a lot of people who don't use RSS. So this allows them to automatically get my new content by email when I publish it.

I plan on testing that functionality to offer to some of our clients.

First post here we go

I realize that I have a common name. There are hundreds of other Rob Taylors out on the Web. I am nowhere to be found. Hopefully this will fix that.

I also have come to realize that I want a place outside of my company web site to post things that don't fit into the content of that web site. If you find a few unusual tidbits here I hope you enjoy what you find. No promise on how often I will update this page. It's not like I have a huge amount of time on my hands. :~>

My name is Robert Taylor and I am the founder and chief bottle washer of a Digital Marketing Agency in Carlsbad, CA. If you want more information on that please visit my company web page. This is definitely not going to be an effort to promote my company web site. It already does quite well on it's own.

I am happily married and have a beautiful little girl. Of course she has her own web page since before she was born. Not sure I want to link to it from here yet.

If you want to contact me, the best way is through this contact page.

Thanks for reading!
